Ok. I said it aloud: I love craft books. I cannot curb my curiosity about how people make stuff; my collection is now growing at an alarming rate, with frequent trips to Strand and other used bookstores in the city. Soon, it will come down to either the books or the human beings. One of us might have to move out of our tiny one bedroom apartment.
My favorite books however come from the 1985 Stitch by Stitch series. Filled with both the classics and the crazy, this collection offers a little bit of everything—knitting, crochet, sewing, and needlework. I stumbled upon my first volume at Karma and Knitting, the really cool yarn store run by MaryAnn and Rebecca, in Buffalo. That was just the beginning. I have managed to hunt down all but one of its 20 volumes. If anybody finds volume 14, please give me a shout-out!
