Birthday Celebrations, Zakir Hussain, and Crafty Gifts

Ten days ago was my birthday. One more wonderful year ahead :) These pictures were in a camera with "accessibility issues", therefore the delay.

My birthday celebrations (as many of my friends know, I take my birthday quite seriously) began on 17th night with Zakir Hussain (yes, The Zakir Hussain) and Rahul Sharma's performance. I have concluded that there is no way to describe what we saw, heard, and experienced. I should leave it at that.

On my birthday, Suketu had arranged this great
surprise brunch for me--it was wonderful. A big thank you to all my friends for stopping by. Posting one picture for now. Here are Anu and Thrupthi....and me.

Crafty birthday gifts! Kiran gave me this purse...hand-made by the Toda tribe from the Nilgiri mountains in Southern India. Amongst many things, they are known for their unique craft work. I am in love with the embroidery on this purse.
