If you are interested in Indian craft or want to buy unique pieces, you will love this emporium. It is home to thousands of art items and heritage craft from across the country. I usually buy gifts for friends and family from here...some of the pieces are too expensive, but it is worth all the ogle and drool. Sorry--no pictures of the stuff inside the emporium. Photography prohibited.
But was I lucky with this! The Lambanis (or Gypsies) and Artisans from Channapatna (small city in the State of Karnataka, India) were selling their ware outside the emporium.
These artisans from Channapatna specialize in very unique wooden toys.....
....And the Lambanis painstakingly work on their embroidery and mirror embellished clothing and craft items
I bought several gifts to take back to the US. Cant post them in advance right now, but I promise many gift-related pictures once I get back. For now, I would like to showcase these wooden bangles I bought for...ME!

Hi there--I'm just visiting from over at the Granny-along, and am really loving your blog--all the photos and descriptions of crafts, sweets, and family! It's a wonderful photo essay. Anyway, I'm in the granny swap, and also am a doctoral student in NYC, isn't that funny?
best,
Leah
Thank you and thanks for visiting! I left a comment on your blog. See you again in cyberspace.
