Thankful.

So many things have been happening over the past several months, and I am very thankful.

Thankful for wonderful blog friends. Rachel and I are part of the Birthday Swap on Ravelry, and she sent me a huge package for my birthday. All kinds of things--stitch markers, magazines, tons of yarn (!), an "R" notepad, beads, hemp....The coolest thing was the Scorpio mug! It sits on my table, making me proud every day that I am a Scorpio :) Thank you Rachel, for being such a great blog friend...it has been so great getting to know you over the past one year! And for all the birthday years to come!

Then there is Juanita. She won my 100th post giveaway--click here and here to see the incredible stuff she made out of the package. So however crazy this might sound, she sent me a thank-you package! (Oh these crafters, they are so crazy). We both enjoy thrift stores, buttons, cooking, and craft...so I got thrifty buttons and a thrifty "Swisse" apron. And a calendar, and an embroidered kerchief, and post cards, and letters. Thanks, thanks much.

I am also thankful for babies. Several of my cousins and close friends are pregnant right now, and the biggest joy for me is to make baby things for them. Life, change, and babies are the most magical things in this world...and it is incredible of how different the world suddenly feels.

My second-cousin, Jonathan, and his wife, Sharmila, in Toronto, just had their baby (two weeks early, one day after my birthday! Ah. November babies). The new addition to our already exploding extended family is baby girlie Jasmine, 5.10 pounds. Again, this is so magical.

I made Jasmine a little cardi-shirt-sweater...call it whatever your mood fancies. I call it Princess Jasmine's New Clothes. It is a quick crochet project--I took a week or so because of my current sporadic crafting habits, but really, it is under three-four hours. The biggest advantage is seamless (yay!) and so less headache and cursing.

Pattern: Crocheted Baby Sweater
Yarn: Plymouth Encore Worsted in off-white, and Red Heart Worsted in beige
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm

Mods: Several
1. Made the sweater a little bigger, so chained 44. Followed the pattern, did 7 dc for one front, 5 for one sleeve, 14 for back, 5 for the other sleeve, and 7 for the other front.
2. Worked until the chest was 24 inches, and divided body and sleeves.
3. Worked body until desired length and made sleeves to "shirt" size.

You got a lot of great goodies.

That cardigan is so cute!! That's one of the patterns that I made a long time ago and added to Ravelry. I should make it again.

The cardigan is adorable!! I can't tell you how many baby sweater patterns I have collected and have planned to make for my new niece! I probably would have had several made already IF I had know the sex of the baby before it was born! :)

The baby cardigan is adorable. I thought it looked familiar - turns out I have it in my Ravelry queue. I think it'll be the next project I start!

Knitting for babes is so satisfying. Its just too bad that they grow out of those sweaters so quickly. Cute cardi!
