Pebbled Vested Interest

HOLY COW! Is it really October 14th? I hope this kid knows all the "how tos."

Some of you, my great blog friends, say that most of my Cupcake projects have a "reason." That is true. However, this vest has no reason. Just vested interest. For its pure cuteness. I cannot get over how grown up the outcome of this pattern looks!

Pebbled Vested Interest

I think this is the only project for which I hunted and special ordered the yarn. It definitely had to be tweed. And machine washable. Plymouth Encore Worsted Tweed turned out perfect at all levels.

Pebbled Vested Interest

And finally. A project with zero modifications. The only modification is that I used worsted weight rather than DK--to up the size. I think the vest was done in two days--it is a perfectly written pattern. And oh, do you know by now how much I love buttons? Thanks to a wonderful button hunting trip with knitting friends, we landed up at Vardhman. It is my new to-go place in NYC for great, and yet very affordable, notions. Special thanks to Penelope and Angela for procurement support.

Pebbled Vested Interest

Pattern: Pebble (Henry's Manly Cobblestone-Inspired Baby Vest) (free)
Yarn: Plymouth Encore Worsted Tweed; 0.75 skeins
Needle: US 7
Size: 6 months
Gauge: 4 stitches per inch

I am really loving all your baby projects - This one looks like a hearty bowl of oatmeal, ready to eat! I made it last year and it was most satisfying (the vest, I mean, not the oatmeal!) - cannot wait to see your cupcake in it.
When are you due? Good luck with everything.

When are you due?

I love the Pebble Vest. Tweed was definitely the way to go. I love the color of the buttons. Button shopping was so much fun. I thought we got the buttons at Vardhman?

I don't believe this. I tell you, project for Cupcake is jinxed. I finished Pebble for Cupcake and it is sitting here waiting for its buttons. I was going to send it out in the mail this weekend. Why, oh why, does this happen again and again?

I love this pattern. The yellow buttons are perfect with the tweedy yarn and I totally agree that tweed yarn is the only yarn for this :)

And I'm searching for weeks now, for a good (not to hard) pattern to knit something for a baby. My sister and my best friend are having both a baby in december. This is a perfect pattern.
THANK you so much for the perfect example, the link to the pattern. Thanks!!!!

I loved your huge yellow buttons (did they fit through the "SSK YO" buttonholes well? I was so inspired I quickly went and knitted one up (DK yarn) for my bub that's on the way (in 2wks!!!), I really wanted huge orange buttons, but couldn't believe how much trouble I had looking for some. The search continues...
