Memories.

_DSC1125

So we moved out of our awesome NYC apartment last month. Tomorrow will be our one month anniversary in beautiful Hoboken, NJ. We love our new life here--and the back and forth between what we continue to have in the city, and what we are creating in our home on the other side of the Hudson river.

Our New York apartment was special. From all the places we lived before, our time there brings back a flood of memories. Of course, a particular one. Anya's godmother painted this beautiful mural for our child and it was hard to let go. (Yes, she is awesome. And if you are in the Houston (Texas) area, maybe you could coax her to do up your home. When she is able to get away from her own little wee one). It was (is) a beautiful tree, in Suketu's favorite color, and it held (holds) a lot of meaning to us. Gravity. Creation. Growth. New Seasons. Change. All those things that a birth of a child brings to one's life. Tree, NYC, West Village--we will miss you. Hoboken--here we are.

Thank you for your generous compliment on the sheep blanket! Yes, the tree mural was indeed 'a work of art.' Maybe she can do it all over again in your new house! Best wishes on your new life in NJ. (I was born in NJ!)

I would have been very hard for me to leave that beautiful orange tree, I hope the new folks that live there will like it. I painted a mural of a horse on my wall as a pre-teen and the renters painted over it, I was crushed. Hope that Jersey brings you much happiness.

Congratulations on the move! I love love love the orange tree. Orange is my favorite color...that's some talented friend you've got. Maybe she should visit you in NJ and take a break from that TX heat so she can paint another tree for you.
