Hello.
I am full of lame excuses. I have not blogged because my camera has been doing something funky. Don’t ask me what, but it has. Anyway, here I am.
We have been buzy doing toddler stuff. Time really catches up, right? After having a
splendid mural for Anya at our old place, we (ah, how I take credit for things I did not create) had to do something splendid again for Anya’s room. These are some work in progress pictures. The mural is done, but ah…I need to take pictures. Ok camera. Behave tomorrow. Suketu’s friend, Brian did a monumental task. He is just amazing. Details to follow. Soon.
I, yes I, have also been knitting. A lot more than you think. This poncho for Anya was knit up during my India trip. I am no big fan of variegated yarn, but I think I am coming around--well, at least for baby stuff. The confusion (?) in the yarn dyeing somehow goes with children's personalities. Maybe?
One of the best yarns I have ever worked with. Lorna's Laces in Worsted. Soft, machine-washable, and so easy on the needles and fingers. Definitely expensive, but this poncho took only a skein. A big thumbs up. And Anya and her grandpa also seem to agree.
Pattern: Children's Poncho (Ravelry
link) See my version
here.
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted multi (one skein)
Needle: US 5 and US 7
Modifications: I casted on stitches of second size (68)

Pictures of sweetness is enough for me even if no knitting...but oh my the knitting its just a treat. The picture of Anya and her grandpa just touches ones heart.
Nice to see a post from you! Anya is growing up to be so pretty!!
Hi there! I know, the days get so busy and full that I find my blog suffers neglect as a result, too. Glad to hear you all are well, and I just love Anya's little poncho!
She's a cutie! That mural is going to be fabulous, can't wait for the big reveal!!
That mural is going to be so great. Also, I aggree with you re: variegated yarns; I don't much care for them for adult garments, but they work really well on children.
I just wanted to tell you that Ella looked at your blog with me this morning, and she loved it so much! She thinks Anya is adorable and she now wants a poncho too. Then we went backwards a bunch of posts and she remarked on how amazing it was to watch Anya get younger and younger! Well, you have new ten-year-old fan.
oooooo! I love it! Beautiful poncho on such a cutie. I can hardly wait to see photos of the finished mural!
That is the cutest picture of Anya and her grandfather. And the mural, wow, scaffolding and everything! The poncho is very cute, I hope she wears it lots.
Wow, how did she get to be a toddler, seems like only yesterday she was a baby! They grow up way too fast! Love the poncho and the grey cardigan she is wearing in the other picture. Can't wait for the pictures of the mural, looks very impressive!
Oh my gosh, Anya is so big now and so beautiful! Those eyes! I absolutely love the poncho. I do love working with variegated yarn, but you do have to be really careful what project you choose. I've found that adult projects can work if the variegation is more about different shades of the same color than all different colors. However, if I had an adult version of that poncho, I would totally wear it. ;-)
The photo of Anya and her granddad is wonderful. She must be a lot of fun for the whole family.
OH its been WAY too long since I have blogged or checked out my friends blogs. Life just gets in the way I guess. Love all of the work you've done and Anya is so beautiful! Love the red scarf... and the baby afghan (don't you love Spud and Chloe yarn?) Glad to have checked in on you and happy your doing well.
I must add this to the comment above... this is Leslie! I'm on my moms computer and it shows her name... just in case your a little confused as to who this is!
