Xmas Gifts, Part 1

Xmas in June? Something like that. I have been so way behind in picture-taking and blog-writing, that you get to enjoy Xmas gifts now. (The good news is that the recipients did receive gifts during Xmas season). Our home and its inhabitants (well, lets just say I) have been deeply involved in tranforming the former from empty apartment-state to house-state to now home-state. I have another 3-4 months' work of getting everything together, but this is a great process. I love organizing and decorating, and this home-project is my latest hobby. Pictures to come. Soon.

Back to Xmas. One of Anya's hand-knit gifts was a Noro vest, inspired by one that my friend, Sarah, made for her son. I sized the vest for this coming winter season. It is a simple top-down recipe (for calculations see Barbara Walker's books) and thats it. The outcome is pretty-darn cute. I bought some more Noro a few months ago to make one for myself, and a Noro striping scarf for Suketu. I finally get those Noro-"obsessors."

Pattern: my own recipe (top-down)
Yarn: Noro and Cascade superwash
Needle: US 8
Size: 18 - 2.5 years

This hat. It is a hat with many stories. Made for Anya. Ended my fitting my head. Self-gifted by Suketu. He loves the quirkiness of the yarn--one of the reasons, I suppose, you would want to use it for a uhmm, child? (Incidentally, the same friend, Sarah, made one for her son, and gave me leftover skeins to make one for Anya!). The yarn (same dye-lot) had some dye-lot issues, as you can notice. But Suketu loves it anyway. And so do I--especially because he got a handknit gift this year. Actually, two. The second one will be in the next blog-post.

Pattern: Elfin (my version is here)
Yarn: Farmhouse Yarns Lumpy Bumpy (1.25 skeins)
Needle: US 8
Size: 18 months...well, which fits an male adult's head

Cute sweater! I love that Suketu likes the hat. Steve would not be caught dead in that (he likes standard hats). I love the texture of the hat. Would have been cute for Anya, too.

I think this might be my favorite post of yours yet. The projects are just brilliant! Or maybe I just think that because I have the same ones at my house......

But I love how the vest came out in girly colors! If Owen's still fits in the fall we will have to get them together and take pictures.

Hi Rima, please forgive me if I answer your question so late...but...I'm pregnant and it's hard for me to stand at my computer in this hot summer!
However, all the patterns I showed in my post are published in Summer Lace Book. I think it's written only in italian now, but generally there's also an english version. You can ask for information following the link I published.
Hugs from Italy :)
